Buri hats in Bulusan

For less than 10Php each (1/4 of a dollar) one can purchase anytime these natural hats in Bulusan town. The tradition of making these buri hats is older than my Lola (grandmother) who died at the age of 100. Her business was buying and selling these hats. Made of buri, a native palm, these hats uses the same pattern and style of weave as the karagumoy hats. The pinwheel style on the top weave is definitely Bulusan weave art. It is called 'balay' or 'ririk' by the locals.
